THIS MONTH AT MRS. BROWN’S HOUSE
Welcome. We are revisiting the Series 8 #3 Happy Sheets for Starter, Beginner, Level One, and Level Two that are a mix of prior packets to give them a fresh look. And a reminder that the Level Two Happy Sheets are also part of our Grown Up Happy Sheet series. You’ll also find Happy Sheets focused on reading Sentences and Words.
We are going to begin including one or two of the books and happy sheets from our Letters Book collection on each month’s post. You can find the entire selection here, under the ‘The Letters Book’ tab.
Be sure to visit all the sections of the site for more books and happy sheets as well as the Workshop, Teaching Group, etc.
Lastly, an FYI. All the ‘This Month with Mrs. Brown’ posts, as well as all the posts using our old format, can be found under The Program > Teach > Learn with Mrs. Brown page.
After you have explored all this post has to offer, be sure to check out the many other resources and activities on our site that we have linked below.
The So Happy to Learn Shop is now open. We currently have 5 products for sale:
- So Happy to Learn Beginner Starter Kit
- The Complete Alphabet Letters Book Series

If you are interested in purchasing any or all of these, you’ll find the link on the Shop menu.
Thanks to all of you that are posting in the new teaching group. We have created it as a great place for all of you to share, connect, and ask questions. I am sharing something new on there each day.
If you are not currently in the teaching group on Facebook, please consider joining. It is our original Teaching Group and contains years of posts and information that haven’t made it to our hosted Teaching Group, mentioned above.
I post videos daily that are great visual teaching tools, and I am here to answer any and all questions.
The support from other members is phenomenal in the group too. One thing I do ask of you, is that if you post here, copy and paste your post into our host Teaching Group as well.
A wealth of information can be found in the presentation booklet found on the ‘The Process Start Here‘ page! If you are new to the program, I highly recommend you review the Quick Start Guide and be sure to check out our new Launching Guide.
I recommend you print it out and refer to it often.
I have been putting in much extra work the past two months with the Learn with Mrs. Brown’s videos.
They are a work in progress, but the feedback I am getting is that your learners are really enjoying them and feel a true connection with me as a teacher.
I love hearing this, as this is my intention.
I encourage you all to utilize these videos. I have created a playlist to make it easy and we have also switched over to Vimeo, so there will be no ads or other videos popping up at the end!
I appreciate any and all feedback on these video sessions, so that I can improve on them in the future and also know all of this hard work is being put to good use!
The happy sheets, videos, and books are meant to be used all through the month and mix in packets and books from past months when it’s time to add more materials.
I wish you all a wonderful month of learning!
Mrs. Brown
We now offer a selection of Mrs. Brown’s Favorite Supplies that includes a list of printers, paper, markers, etc., as well as packs of our Books, Focus Spray and a Beginner Starter Kit in our Shop.
Happy Learning,
~Mrs. Brown
This Month’s Books and Happy Sheets
You can use the monthly packets bound as a booklet or individual in the choice work folder. Bind the books as hard copy reading books and as Read and Circle workbooks.
So excited for the new month!
For everyone here who hasn’t been posting comments, questions, pictures, videos, etc., please let us know if you need help to be able to do that. Just like Mrs. Brown said in the video, sometimes there is a learning curve for new tasks. I remember reading the how-to steps out loud to myself on the website to figure out how to post videos on the website and in the FB group. It was challenging for the first few times but now it is no big deal at all. If this is you, ask for encouragement and help. We love to help each other here!
When we started with SoHTL, I desperately wanted to find learners that I thought were like my son that I could identify with. I have since learned that I can learn something from all of the learners here. Taking time to read the posts and watch videos from other families along with Mrs. Brown will help you become a better teacher.
Posting to this community is relatively secure – I’m sure nothing is completely secure these days, but this is a private group – both the website and the FB group. When you post videos to the website, you make a private YouTube account and only those with the link (that you share) can see your videos. I know some folks never post any images online, and I understand! I did want to remind everyone that this group is a lower risk to your privacy.
If you have read down this far, I wanted to share my own learning curve story. I have been enjoying some instructional art videos for myself – and they are videos actually made for kids. I have had fun with my own artwork. I tried this week to do a more advanced instructional video from a different website. And it was too fast and too hard and I found myself getting frustrated and stressed out. I finally turned it off and switched back to my other favorite site. I want my learning to be fun! And so does my son! It was a good reminder for me!
Ok, ask questions! Post pictures and videos! We want to see our learners succeed together!
Deana! You are the best! I do not post pictures or videos because I do not know how to do it! LOL. I think I managed to post a picture once but I don’t even remember how I did it. Help please! Any tech tips are helpful. Also, I am not very good at finding where I post questions to the group and Mrs. Brown from the teaching group. Thank you!
@Janet-Hope I tagged you on a couple of the tutorial posts here on this site. It will take a few minutes to go through them but it is worth your time. It will get easier after you post a few times.
@Janet-Hope When I make a new post, I always scroll down to “Learners at Home” and click that heading. The link takes me to the Learners at Home group and I post there.
Thanks for the feedback!
Deana, I truly appreciate the way you take the time to encourage others on their SHTL journey!
Meeeeeee tooooooo!!!!
Hello, Mr & Mrs. B! I am so negligent responding to anything… Vincent and I are always starting over at zero! Anyway, we do love the program and the material, even if we are in such a stop/start mode. We love you and all of the sweet students you feature. Definitely an inspiration! We plan to keep working through summer to keep the brain juices flowing.
Gina thank you! This is music to my ears.
Things are hard right now with “Mr Brown” but we’ve got this and my “work” is everything to me.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.
I’m late to respond, but thank you for putting together the materials for this month. Honestly I didn’t expect you to post anything considering everything that has been going on!
