THIS MONTH AT MRS. BROWN’S HOUSE
Welcome. We are revisiting the Happy Sheets for Beginner, Level One, and Level Two that go with our book of the month, the Ff Book. And a reminder that the Level Two Happy Sheets are also part of our Grown Up Happy Sheet series. We are also revisiting The See Like Book. And for additional activities we have Art Cards and two Color and Draw books.
We are going to begin including one or two of the books and happy sheets from our Letters Book collection in each month’s post. The entire selection can be found here, under the ‘The Letters Book’ tab.
Be sure to visit all the sections of the site for more books and happy sheets as well as the Workshop, Teaching Group, etc.
Lastly, an FYI. All the ‘This Month with Mrs. Brown’ posts, as well as all the posts using our old format, can be found under The Program > Teach > Learn with Mrs. Brown page.
After you have explored all this post has to offer, be sure to check out the many other resources and activities on our site that we have linked below.
The So Happy to Learn Shop is now open. We currently have 5 products for sale:

Thanks to all of you who are posting in the new teaching group. We have created it as a great place for all of you to share, connect, and ask questions. I am sharing something new on there each day.
If you are not currently in the teaching group on Facebook, please consider joining. It is our original Teaching Group and contains years of posts and information that haven’t made it to our hosted Teaching Group, mentioned above.
I post videos daily that are great visual teaching tools, and I am here to answer any and all questions.
The support from other members is phenomenal in the group, too. One thing I do ask of you is that if you post here, copy and paste your post into our host Teaching Group as well.
A wealth of information can be found in the presentation booklet found on the ‘The Process Start Here‘ page! If you are new to the program, I highly recommend you review the Quick Start Guide and be sure to check out our new Launching Guide.
I recommend you print it out and refer to it often.
I have been putting in much extra work the past two months with the Learn with Mrs. Brown’s videos.
They are a work in progress, but the feedback I am getting is that your learners are really enjoying them and feel a true connection with me as a teacher.
I love hearing this, as this is my intention.
I encourage you all to utilize these videos. I have created a playlist to make it easy and we have also switched over to Vimeo, so there will be no ads or other videos popping up at the end!
I appreciate any and all feedback on these video sessions, so that I can improve on them in the future and also know all of this hard work is being put to good use!
The happy sheets, videos, and books are meant to be used all through the month and mix in packets and books from past months when it’s time to add more materials.
I wish you all a wonderful month of learning!
Mrs. Brown
We now offer a selection of Mrs. Brown’s Favorite Supplies that includes a list of printers, paper, markers, etc., as well as packs of our Books, Focus Spray and a Beginner Starter Kit in our Shop.
Happy Learning,
~Mrs. Brown
This Month’s Books and Happy Sheets
You can use the monthly packets bound as a booklet or individual in the choice work folder. Bind the books as hard copy reading books and as Read and Circle workbooks.
Yay! So excited!
Thank you, Mrs. Brown. I heartily agree with so much of what you said in this month’s video. Having learners watch the videos is SO helpful. Mine especially likes to watch you read the books and or do the Happy Sheets.
I completely agree that becoming familiar with the library is invaluable. I use the library to help me with objectives I might have. For example, we have been working hard on counting objects, so I have pulled a variety of Happy Sheets from the library that count different objects. We started with 3 and now we are working on 5. We still forget “4” sometimes, but we are getting there.
Once my learner began to like learning, I located all the go-stop Happy Sheets I could find because my learner loved being able to do a sheet “all by himself.” And go-stop was one that he liked doing by himself. Now he does the vocabulary picture pages as read and circle. His vocabulary this last year grew immensely. He isn’t reading the words, he is only recognizing the pictures and saying the words, but this has helped his ability to communicate so much.
I find that having a couple of small goals gives us something to build on each month. Then we always add in the monthly things to keep things new and exciting.
I would encourage others who are on this journey – keep teaching. Don’t test. Once you get comfortable with the monthly materials, use the LIBRARY – there is SO much in there! You don’t have to use every page of a packet, but you will be surprised at how many options there are for things to teach and reinforce concepts to our learners.
Thanks again, Mrs. Brown.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share these wonderful thoughts. I appreciate it!
@KimberlyL
Looking forward to this month. Thank you!
